When I read about the KISS mental model, I figured out it's a superb rule of Life. I can apply it to everything in my life.
Such as...
Work
Eating
Exercise
Learning
Delegation
Relationship
Decision making

Because whenever I make things complex, my brain needs more energy to understand. I usually start experiencing the following monsters.
Binge Watching
Procrastination
Perfectionism
Distraction
Tiredness
Sleepy
Reasons why KISS works. Simplicity beats complexity
So why does simplicity always beat complexity? Because it required more
TIME
FOCUS
ATTENTION
ENERGY
GRIT
"Complexity is your enemy. Any fool can make something complicated. It is hard to keep things simple. " -Richard Branson
In the current world, I do not have the above luxury because I am always surrounded by the following:
Work demands
Family time
News distraction
Personal laziness
At the age of 41 years old, I realized I do not need many things in life to manage.
I need a few things to manage very well. But this decision-making needs experience, struggle, and risk-taking.
Life Examples
5 examples I can explain here:
1. AI Tool Dilemma
Every day, whenever I see social media. I am bombarded with new AI Tool social media posts.
The problem is that I need to do trial and error to learn the tool. Result: I did not learn the tool and I forget it faster than a bullet train.
"It is the mark of a charlatan to explain a simple concept in a complex way."- Naval Ravikant
I always use ChatGPT for 80% of my tasks. 20% I refer to other AI tools when I am not satisfied with CHATGPT.
2. Luxury vs Simple Cars
Since my childhood, I have grown older seeing that Toyota is the most reliable car.
Now I can afford a luxury car like a BMW. I have experienced that it gives me more headaches to maintain. When I have a Toyota car, it gets fixed once a year, and YAY!!!
Although I do not like Toyota because it has cheap plastics and basic functions.
But in the end, reliability matters.
3. Old School Excel vs Analytics
I am an Excel Junkie because I am an Auditor.
I realized that at this age majority of my Tasks I can finish through Excel. I don't need complex software to perform analytics or visualization.
4. Simple Workflow Software
The best example I recently learned is using Figma and Canva to make images.
In my early life, I had to learn Adobe Photoshop to make advanced images. Why I like Figam and Canva because the user interface is so simple that my 8-year-old also has the same capabilities as I do.
5. Lego vs Duplo
Recently, I purchased LEGO and DUPLO for my 8-year-old and 2-year-old. DUPLO took me 10 minutes to build a train, and for the same LEGO, it took me 30 minutes to build something.
If I want to spend my time playing with Lego, I will spend more time creating DUPLO rather than LEGO.
DUPLO was simple and easy to understand.
CONCLUSION
So what we learn simplicity always wins.
"If you cannot explain something in simple terms, you don't understand it. " - Richard Feynman
